AIL 2024 - 2025 Season

The AIL season 24/25 kicks off on the 21st of September against Monkstown FC.  This is the second year that the coaching unit of Robbie Doyle, Daniel Walsh, Liam "Boomer" O'Connor, Gearoid Collins, Ger McIntyre, and Ger Geary have had together and the plan is to build on success of the 23/24 season.   Last season saw us improve greatly on the 22/23 season that ended with a relegation play off against Richmond.  Robbie and co ensured there would not be a repeat and we moved from 9th to 5th.  We hope to see this momentum continue into 24/25 season as we push for promotion in a very tough league that see's two teams come up from junior, and two teams come down from 2B.  Both Ballyclare and Monkstown completed the challenge of coming up from the junior ranks ad will both prove to be very challenging opponents.  Belfast Harlequins were relegated from 2B and will look to come back fighting while Dolphin were also relegated, adding another local derby.

Below we have a quick word from Club President, Christy Lordan, Head Coach, Robbie Doyle and Club Captain Idris Rqibi on the coming season.

On behalf of Midleton rugby club I would like to extend a warm welcome to Peter Fagan President Monkstown RFC, and his fellow club members, to our Towns Park complex.

I would also like to acknowledge the presence of our own loyal members, friends and sponsors, and thank you for your continuing support.

I would like to thank our main sponsor, Midleton Distillery, for their ongoing support and generosity.

There is still some space available for more advertising signs on the perimeter fencing around our main pitch:  contact Carol Bailey or Joe Murphy.

The rapid growth and development of Midleton rugby club is due, mainly, to our hard working management committees, on and off the pitches.

On the pitches, the emergence of ladies’ rugby and the enlarged under- age sector is due mainly to the hard work of our dedicated coaches and managers.

I would like to acknowledge the amount of time and effort our adult coaches and team managers have put into the functioning of this club, especially our Director of rugby, Tom Mulcahy.

I would like to make a special mention of our senior team and its supporting staff, especially Head coach Robbie Doyle, Club captain Idris Rqibi, team Doctor. Diarmuid  Mulcahy and Physio Colette Cullinane.

I would like to wish both teams all the best in today‘s fixture

And I look forward to meeting up in the club house after the match.

Christy Lordan,

President, Midleton RFC.

Hi All,
Just a quick note on the season ahead.

Myself and the coaching group are really happy with the squad we have put together and excited about what we can achieve this season.

We hope to build on our 5th place finish last season and push up into the play off spots.

We had a great pre-season tour to Amsterdam, playing 2 hard games against Haarlem RFC. It was fantastic to be able to bring the 1sts & 2nds on tour together and gel the playing group on & off the playing field.

I'm also delighted that we are fielding a 3rd team for the 1st time in a number of years and our U21's are also part of the East Cork Hurricanes regional side.

I would like to thank the committee for their support in putting all of the above in place.

I would finally like to thank supporters for getting behind the team last season. It made a massive difference to the players to have you roar them on.
We hope to give you plenty to cheer about this coming season as well.

Thanks
Robbie Doyle
Head Coach
