This has always been a tough fixture for us, and this was none the different. A mid second half surge nearly saw the end of Midleton's unbeaten streak, only to be saved near the death by a wonderful piece of work from the ever improving Jack Colbert.
The story of the day was open flowing rugby with both sides looking to move the ball from edge to edge trying to find the space. Enniscorthy will feel let down after having the try line calling on more than one occasion only to let go of the ball, but all in all were better at finding the space.
Conditions were pretty good with a warm sun and a light breeze but as ever the kicking game was very important with both sides looking to pin the other back and test the set piece. Midleton pack won the set piece battle with a handful of scrum penalties and some god clean turnovers in the lineout, however, it was fine margins. What made the difference at the end was the depth in the Midleton squad with the bench able to make a telling impact.
All in all a brilliant spectacle showing the quality of AIL rugby on show and either team would have been deserving winners.
Next up we are away to Tullamore on 26th October. Our next home game is against Bruff on the 9th of November
