BRUFF RFC 16 – 35 Midleton RFC

Midleton recorded their second bonus point win in Division 2C to go top after their 35-16 away win over Bruff at Kilballyowen Park. Ross O’Mahony scored two tries for the East Cork side and Daniel Murray, Rob Carey and Paul Daly got one each. Stuart Lee converted all five tries. Cillian Rea replied with a try for Bruff and David O’Grady converted and added three penalties.

Midleton lie second on the Division 2C Table, just behind Rainey Old Boys who they welcome to Towns Park on Saturday, October 1st. Both sides are on 10 points after 2 games and are only separated by a margin of a single point’s difference.  Towns Park will be the place to be on October 1st, it’s going to be a cracker!!!

All mini rugby training and matches v Cobh Pirates RFC (home and away) have been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

The u16 match v Kinsale RFC has also fallen foul of the weather and it too has been cancelled.

Our 2016/2017 Ulster Bank League campaign got under way at home on Saturday, September 17th when we faced Kanturk RFC. The Duhallow men were anxious to make amends for last season’s home and away losses to Midleton so a keenly fought contest was expected and certainly delivered. Kick-off was at 2.30pm under the whistle of Mr. Cillian Hogan. A rousing home support greatly buoyed The Red Devils and got them off to a great start to the season. The visitors 9 points all came from penalties within the Midleton half. Four tries from Sean White, Aidan McCarthy, Luke Morrissey and Paul Daly with a conversion by Paul Daly gave a try bonus win to the home side putting them top of the table in the first week. Next weekend the boys travel to Bruff for a 2.30pm kick off. As always, home support will be much appreciated.
